I've just finished another work week and am quickly becoming more accustomed to my students. I'm learning the class dynamics of each class (and they vary WIDELY) and having more conversations in Korean. Yesterday after school, I had a full five-minuteish conversation w/ the home ec teacher...all in Korean! And it was a REAL conversation, not one of those "Hello, I am the Native English Teacher. I'm from the U.S." type of conversations #accomplishment
Anyway, I have been dying on the inside without sweet food because nothing here is really sweet, even dessert. Like cinnamon rolls...yep, not sweet! Even ice cream and cakes...I swear they make them without sugar. So, like any good southerner, I took off to Cold Stone in Daegu, which was loaded with sweet, albeit overpriced, goodness! In the process, I located an awesome area that has great stores, restaurants, and an IMAX Theater. Holla! Here's this week in pictures:

Cold Stone, you never fail me! Even if it is $5 for a *small* cup of ice cream! |

Recycling is big in Korea! I 'll be happy when I get a Brita filter so I can stop buying these unsustainable water bottles! |

You have no idea how difficult it was at first to get these little trash stickers. You have to put these on your trash bucket to get the city to pick up your garbage. It's a process! |

Cake cake cake #RihannaSong. This is the sweet potato cake from a gathering at an EPIK friend's apartment the other day! |

Corn flakes are the one food that I've been able to find in every country I've ever visited. And they always taste the same :-) |
 |
Yesss Lord to Einstein's Bagels! It was like I was back in Atlanta for a minute. I don't have a toaster yet (the cheap ones are $40!!) so I've been toasting bagels the old-school way, on the stove. LOL |

My desk in the English office! |

This is the little oasis at the front of our school. Nice place to just go and think :-) |

This interesting-looking thing is where the students go to brush their teeth after meals...since they eat most of their meals at school anyway! Koreans are big on tooth brushing. |
